Last Sunday was the perfect day to dye. Cool in the morning, shaded on the porch. I had some dyes left over from last fall's dye fest and I had no idea if they would be OK but I thought I would give them a try. If they were spent, I could always over dye the fabric.
They looked great in the containers.
I love the look of this piece swirled up with its deep blue and golden yellow. I twirled a few with rare abandon. My friend, Holly, had a go at it, too.
They looked like flags from fantasy countries spread out on the lawn.
Not knowing (if anything would work) freed me up to play, stuffing fabric in cups and pouring in some dye then stuffing in more fabric and pouring on more color. Why not I thought, if it turn out to be mud, I would over dye it to a rich black.
But here you are! What fun!
They dried a bit lighter... but they are serving as inspirations for a set of darker ones! More pictures
